Feanix is a seed-stage YC startup with a deep passion for making the agriculture industry more sustainable. Our investors include Initialized Capital (lead) with participation from General Catalyst, Collab Fund, Overwater Ventures, YC, and an amazing set of angels.

Our mission is to bridge the gap between ecology and agriculture, ensuring both can thrive for generations to come. To do so, we are pioneering the use of cutting-edge genetics + software advancements in commercial farming operations.

We’ve started in the dairy sector as our co-founders Mitch and Tom both grew up on dairy farms and met at an animal genetics research lab in UC Davis. However, genetics is a core pillar of every agricultural industry, from chickens to plant crops. We’re just getting started.

Some of our proprietary breakthroughs: We can perform DNA extraction and whole-genome sequencing from a single hair at dramatically lower cost vs. status quo. We are the first Genotype-By-Sequencing lab certified with the CDCB. We’ve developed custom genomic models that achieve ~90+% reliability on various phenotypic traits vs. the industry standard of ~60% reliability. We’re the first to crack genomic predictions on traits like lactation persistency.
