COMPANYBase

Base is hiring its first Workplace Lead who will professionalize and continuously improve the Workplace function as we scale headcount and into new geographies and facilities. You'll own the planning and execution of launching new office sites across the US while maintaining a high bar for excellent experience and organization at all Base locations. This is a hands-on, foundational role. You'll manage our current Workplace Associates at HQ and BF1. You will hire and stand up new part-time contracted support in our existing warehouse sites (7), and help plan the office build-out of our next HQ and factory campus.

What You’ll Do:

  • Own Workplace operations across all existing sites and plan and launch new warehouse office sites across the US.
  • Travel and be on site at least one week for each new site launch - plan for a new site to be launched every 1-2 months.
  • Build and manage the Workplace team as it grows. Define staffing requirements and grow the team as lean as possible while maintaining the high bar of excellence.
  • Lead space planning for a fast-growing HQ and the future expansion into adjacent buildings to accommodate headcount growth.
  • Own vendor relationships and contracts related to Workplace including negotiating terms, tracking renewals, and holding vendors to a high standard.
  • Partner with IT and Deployments for the initial build out of new sites and ongoing management of Workplace issues and improvements.
  • Set the standards and operating rhythm for a fully in-office culture and instill that in individual Workplace teams at each site.
  • Represent the Workplace function in planning for Base’s future campus (HQ and Factory) targeted for early 2028 completion.

What You'll Bring:

  • 8+ years running workplace or operations for a fast growing startup with a distributed footprint.
  • Experience building and leading a small team from the front.
  • Strong project management skills and A+ planning ability for thinking through physical operations.
  • Comfortable working in a low structure and low process environment and building those out from scratch.
  • Good judgement - on spend, on what’s important, on what is a priority.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 1 week per month to new and existing sites.
  • Bonus: experience supporting technical or industrial workplaces like manufacturing or logistics.

Please note: Base is a startup, which means priorities shift and evolve quickly. Your role may expand or change based on the needs of the business at any given time, so the responsibilities listed may not be exhaustive.
