We're looking for a hungry generalist to join our Business Operations team: someone who thrives on variety, complex problem-solving, and the challenge of keeping a fast-paced, hard-tech startup running smoothly. You'll work directly with our CEO on whatever matters most, and no two weeks will look the same.
Monumental is a unique company in that we're solving the problem of on-site construction with a vertically integrated offering. We're a hard tech company doing real R&D, financed through venture funding. We manufacture our hardware in-house, manage a complex supply chain, and deploy masonry robots to construction sites across the Netherlands.
You'll be close to the action across the whole company: one day helping shape how Monumental shows up online, the next building a small automation that cuts a manual process from three days to thirty minutes, or picking up a special project in finance, recruitment, or people ops that doesn't have an obvious owner. Like other startups, you'll help orchestrate press or investor visits. Unlike other startups, you'll also be asking visitors for their shoe sizes to make sure we have appropriate footwear ready for them to visit our sites.
Whether it's helping the CEO stay on top of what matters, writing something that needs to land well, or figuring out something no one has figured out yet, you'll be at the heart of keeping Monumental running smoothly and one step ahead. You won't be handed a playbook. You'll help write it.
What you’ll do
- Special projects. The work that needs to get done but doesn't have an obvious owner. You'll pick it up, figure it out, and move it forward. This can be related to finance, recruitment, people, legal, public affairs, investors or anything else.
- AI-powered ops. When a process is slow or manual, your first instinct is to automate it. You're comfortable with AI tools and can vibe-code a working solution before most people have finished writing the ticket.
- Writing and communications. Internal updates, external copy, the occasional piece that needs to land well. You write clearly and you write fast.
- Information and prioritisation. Helping the CEO stay on top of what matters, filtering signal from noise, and making sure the right things get processed at the right cadence.
What we’re looking for
- You have 1 to 3 years of experience in a startup, VC, or similarly fast-moving environment. You know what a cap table is, you understand the difference between Seed and Series B, and you're genuinely excited about what early-stage company building looks like up close.
- You're a natural generalist. You don't need a defined scope to do good work, you just need a problem worth solving.
- You have a bias to action and a whatever-it-takes mindset. You don't wait for permission, and you don't decide something is beneath you. If it needs doing, you do it.
- You reach for AI tools by default. Not because it's trendy, but because you genuinely don't want to spend three days on something you can solve in an afternoon.
- You're a strong writer. Clear, direct, no filler.
- You're good at filtering. You think about what needs attention now versus what can wait, and you help the people around you stay focused.
